Although probably a formality given the fact he (Matt Roberts) has already announced that he would not be joining BT Sport, it has been confirmed today that Matt will join the Eurosport team. With the previous presenter, Tony Carter being widely disliked by Eurosport viewers (and Jack Burnicle!) it probably seemed like a no-brainer for Eurosport to snap up the former BBC presenter once their coverage ceased. For me that's a great acquisition, Matt Roberts was one of the highlights of the BBC team, with the loss of Toby Moody and the extension of coverage to Saturday qualifying they needed to switch things up a little.
This leaves BT sport with an interesting choice, go with the knowledgable yet unpopular Tony Carter or take an experienced presenter and mold them much like they did with Jake Humphrey when they poached him from BBCs F1 coverage and turned him into the face of BT Sport.
With MotoGP testing starting next week, an announcement is due in the next few days regarding who will be heading up BTs coverage.
